এই অমর উক্তিটি করেছেন মধ্যযুগের প্রখ্যাত কবি বাংলা ভাষায় বৈষ্ণব পদাবলীর আদি রচিয়তা চণ্ডীদাস। উল্লেখ্য, পদাবলীতে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন চণ্ডীদাসের নাম (চণ্ডীদাস দ্বিজ, চণ্ডীদাস দীন, চণ্ডীদাস আদি ইত্যাদি।) জানা যায়। তবে ড. মুহম্মদ শহীদুল্লাহর মতে, চণ্ডীদাস তিনজন - বডু চণ্ডীদাস শ্রীকৃষ্ণকীর্তনের রচয়িতা এবং দ্বিজ ও দীন পদাবলীর কবি।
